Lima 2019: Lucky visitors can go on board KD Tunku Abdul Rahman

LANGKAWI: Visitors to the maritime segment of the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2019 (LIMA’19) at Resorts World Langkawi (RWL) have the opportunity to visit and experience going on board the submarine KD Tunku Abdul Rahman.

Assistant chief of Staff, Planning and Development, Royal Malaysian Navy cum deputy chairman of Maritime Segment LIMA’19 First Admiral Ahmad Shafirudin Abu Bakar said three lucky visitors will be selected daily for the experience.

“Visitors need to download the RMN App on the Google Store or App Store. They can also scan the QR Code found on the leaflet distributed around the maritime segment of the exhibition site.

“The competition requires visitors to take selfies around the maritime segment, upload to their Facebook account and tag official Facebook of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN). Unique selfies will be selected as winners, those who are selected will be notified via the social site,” he said.

Shafirudin said besides the opportunity to enter the submarine, lucky visitors would also have a chance to view warships anchored in the area and receive a special invitation to the Fleet Food and Culture Festival.

“We will select different lucky visitors for each competition, for example, three lucky visitors can experience getting on the submarine. Other lucky visitors will receive special invitations to the Fleet Food and Culture Festival where crew of ships from countries involved in the maritime segment cook their traditional food and exhibit their respective cultural performances,” he said.

The LIMA’19 maritime segment is divided into two parts, namely static display and maritime boat demonstration which are open to the public for free from today until Saturday. - Bernama
