Students can check BPPT eligibility starting today

KUALA LUMPUR: The government will start distributing the Higher Education Student Aid (BPPT) in stages starting today.

The Education Ministry in a statement said the BPPT worth RM100 per person will be credited through the Kad Diskaun Siswa from Bank Rakyat.

It said the aid, with an allocation of RM120 million, was expected to benefit 1.2 million students.

Students can check their eligibility for BPPT at the Bank Rakyat website www.bankrakyat.com.my/bppt starting today.

“For students who do not have the discount card, new applications can be made through the Bank Rakyat portal beginning April 1,” the statement said.

The deadline for the BPPT 2019 application is May 31 and the deadline for discount card collection is July 31.

It said those who received a “no record” response on the Bank Rakyat website are required to contact and inform their respective institution’s Student Affairs Division so they could update the MyMohes database, latest by April 28.

For more information, the ministry urged IPT students to refer to the guidelines for BPPT 2019 by visiting their website www.moe.gov.my/index.php/personality/pengumuman/4994-garispanduan-bppt2019.
