No rush to launch manifesto, says Streram

REMBAU: With one day to go before the campaigning period ends, Rantau by-election candidate Dr S. Streram has yet to launch his election manifesto.

Dr Streram, who is contesting under the Pakatan Harapan (PH) ticket, said this was because he had been raising various local issues, which were all carried by the media.

“I have just seen the draft of the manifesto. I’m going through it but whatever I’ve said before (to the media) including the local issues, are inside the manifesto.

“It’s ready to be launched. I’ve been talking about the same problems... lack of public transportation and all that,” he told reporters during a visit to Balai Raya Siliau in Rantau, here, today.

“The problems are real. I’m not here to give you a dream or make empty promises. I’m talking about things I want to do for this community,” he added.

Throughout the two-week campaigning period, Dr Streram has raised various local issues including poor healthcare services, narrow roads and affordable housing, among others.

Barisan Nasional’s (BN) candidate Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan had previously said there was no need for a manifesto as he had served the constituency as state assemblyman since 2004.

Only the two independent candidates - R. Malarvizhi and Mohd Nor Yassin, have released their respective manifestos last week.
