RTD opens tender for 'FC' number plate series via e-bidding today

PUTRAJAYA: The Road Transport Department (RTD) has opened the tenders for vehicle registration number ‘FC’ through its JPJeBid, from today until Friday.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the official results for successful bidders would be announced at noon the next day.

"This (e-bidding for FC series) is a pioneer project (by RTD) and the process ends on April 19 at 11.59pm," he said in his speech at RTD's 73th Day celebration here on Monday.

e-bidding allows Malaysians to bid for vehicle registration numbers from anywhere and is not limited to the state or territory denoting the alphabets.

On a separate matter, Loke said the new e-TESTING system which would be implemented this year was hoped to boost public confidence on the process and results of driving tests.

"The pioneer project started in Johor last year we and need further discussion with the driving institutes before implementing it in phases as they need to be prepared including the equipment (for e-TESTING)," he said.

Sensors, cameras and other components will replace the role of testers to measure the competency of drivers.

In his speech, Loke also reminded RTD staff to always strive in providing excellent services and quick response, while adopting flexible policies for the benefit of the people.

Also present were his deputy Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar and RTD director-general Datuk Seri Shaharuddin Khalid.
