Freed Doan Thi Huong pens letter expressing gratitude [NSTTV]

SEPANG: “I am very happy. Thank you. I love you all,” said Doan Thi Huong, in a letter which she had written yesterday.

The 30-year-old Vietnamese, who was released this morning from Kajang prison, wrote the letter to thank everyone who was involved in her case that took two years.

“Thank you so much to the Malaysian government, the deputy public prosecutor, the judge, staff of the Kajang women prison who took care of me well, the Vietnamese embassy, the Vietnam Bar Federation, the lawyers, the Vietnam government, as well as the media who had supported me.

“I thank everyone so much for praying in the church, as well as at home, for me.

“Thank you Lord Jesus. He loves me so much,” she said in the letter read by her lawyer Hisyam Teh during a special press conference held at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) here earlier.

Addressing more than 50 local and foreign media at the departure hall, Hisyam said there was no chance for the 2017 assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s half-brother, Kim Jong Nam case to be reopened as it has come to a complete end.

“There will be no reopening of the case as the prosecutor didn’t file an appeal against the sentence imposed on Doan by the High Court.

“This means that the case has come to a complete end,” he added.

Also present were lawyers Salim Bashir and Datuk Naran Singh. All three lawyers will be flying together with Doan to Hanoi via Vietnam Airlines flight VN680 at 7.15pm.

“We will have a meeting arranged by the Vietnam Bar Federation tomorrow morning, for a final discussion on the case and a small celebration,” he added.

Doan was charged along with an Indonesian woman, Siti Aisyah for poisoning Jong Nam by smearing his face with VX nerve agent, a banned chemical weapon, at KLIA2 in Feb 2017.

Last month, Doan pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of “causing injury” over the 2017 assassination of Jong-Nam.
