All set for Dr Mahathir to deliver New Malaysia anniversary message

PUTRAJAYA: The stage is set for Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to deliver the first anniversary message of New Malaysia at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) here tomorrow.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo today checked the final preparations for the ceremony and said the event was very important for the new government led by Pakatan Harapan (PH) following its victory in the 14th General Election on May 9 last year.

Dr Mahathir is scheduled to deliver the important message at 3.30 pm.

‘’I hope everything goes smoothly. As of now, everything is in order,’’ Gobind said after spending about an hour taking a look at the preparations and viewing the full dress rehearsal of the event.

About 1,500 guests are expected to attend the event. They include Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Cabinet ministers, senior government officers, elected representatives, foreign diplomats, NGO representatives and government servants.

The event will be aired live over RTM1.

Dr Mahathir is also scheduled to attend a breaking of fast and thanksgiving reception for the people’s victory at the Putra Mosque here in conjunction with the first anniversary of the PH administration. - Bernama
