No interference, just misunderstanding, says Dr M

PUTRAJAYA: There is no truth in political appointees interfering in the duties of civil servants, said Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad.

"There is no interference. Sometimes, there is just some misunderstanding.

"So when they (political appointees) give advice, it can be seen as disturbing, but they only wanted to give some advice," he told reporters after chairing the eighth Special Cabinet Committee on Anti-Corruption meeting at Perdana Putra, here, today.

The Prime Minister was responding to Cuepacs president Datuk Azih Muda's allegation that the congress was still receiving complaints of interference, a year after Pakatan Harapan (PH) had taken over the federal administration.

"The government makes the policy, but it is the civil service that executes the policy no matter what the policy is.

"If this (interference) happens, then it will take longer for the new government to reach their goals, and we hope when that happens, don’t blame the civil servants,” Azih had said.
