Non-Muslims enjoy bubur lambuk

KUALA PILAH: The distribution of bubur lambuk during Ramadan is highly anticipated by the country’s Muslims.

But, the savoury porridge has also become a favourite among non-Muslims.

Lai Ah Yin was in Jalan Kuala Pilah-Dioh, here, today when he received a free packet of bubur lambuk.

“I heard someone calling me and offering me the porridge,” said the 68-year-old.

“It’s a lucky day for me, because this is my first time receiving bubur lambuk.

“All this while I only looked from afar whenever programmes like these were held in the past.”

Lai said it gave him the opportunity to taste the porridge, and also changed his perception.

“All this while I thought the porridge was a special diet for Muslims, but it turns out that it can be eaten and enjoyed by all races,” he said.

Mark Onn, 55, said he had tried the porridge on several occasions and loved the combination of meat, vegetables and spices in the porridge.

“I love the taste and that’s why everytime I bump into a bubur lambuk distribution programme, I am not embarrassed to ask for it,” he said.

Today’s programme was organised by Kampung Sungai Dua Kecil Kemas in collaboration with Senaling state assembly coordinator Rais Basiron’s office.

A total of 300 packets of bubur lambuk were distributed to the public by Rais.

He said the programme, which had been organised on three occasions this Ramadan, would be continued until the end of the fasting month.
