BATU PAHAT: A tour bus en route from Johor Baru to Melaka caught fire at Km97.2 of the North South Expressway (Plus) near Ayer Hitam here, today.
The bus was carrying 29 tourists from China, a tour guide and a driver when the incident occurred at about 2.30pm, Bernama reported.
As flames consumed the bus, its passengers scrambled for the exits and managed to escape.
No casualty was reported.
Yong Peng Fire and Rescue Station operations officer Khairul Nizam Aresat said his station received an emergency call at 2.31pm, and that two fire engines from the Yong Peng and Ayer Hitam stations with 13 personnel were rushed to the scene.
“Firemen took more than an hour to bring the blaze under control,” he said, adding that the cause of the blaze and estimated losses are being investigated.
