Latheefa must probe 'big fish' from Sarawak

KUCHING: The appointment of Latheefa Beebi Koya as the new Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief will bring a new dawn for Malaysia, especially when it comes to combating corruption.

Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru (PBDSB), in supporting her appointment, said the former Lawyers For Liberty director was known for her fearless and no-nonsense approach.

“In order to show that Latheefa is firm and would take action against any wrongdoing, she must act without fear and favor,” said PBDSB information chief William Mangor.

“Besides, we want and hope that her first task is to reopen investigation on the ‘corridors of powers’ in Sarawak as there’s a lot of ‘big fish’ here,” he said in a statement here today.

However, William also said that the Pakatan Harapan government must explain why the appointment did not go through Parliament first, as was stated in PH’s 14th General Election manifesto.

“Otherwise, this reflects badly on them,” said William.
