Investigation into paramotor crash on-going

JELEBU: Police have yet to record statements from two injured victims after a paramotor, believed to belong to the duo, was found crashed in Purun, Kuala Klawang, last Saturday.

District OCPD, chief deputy superintendent Kamarul Rizal Jenal, said a 60-year-old US citizen and a 56-year-old local man were both reportedly in critical condition following the incident.

According to him, both victims were receiving treatment at a private hospital in Kuala Lumpur due to severe burns sustained on their head, face, hands and feet.

“Investigations conducted found that the US citizen has a valid social visit pass, but we are still probing whether the victim has a licence to handle the paramotor or otherwise.

“The police will also conduct investigations to find out the purpose of using the paramotor. We are also trying to find information on the location it had taken off and the cause of the crash,” he said when met here today.

However, he said further investigation on the paramotor would be carried out by the Malaysian Civil Aviation Authority (DCA).

The New Straits Times on Sunday reported that two men, including a US citizen, were injured when a paramotor crashed in a bush in Purun, Kuala Klawang.

The remnants of the paramotor were found by villagers before they lodged a police report at 3.30pm.
