TAWAU: The bodies of three divers who died near Kalapuan Island off Semporna near here have been claimed by their families at the district hospital.
Abdun Jamarun, 50, father to dive instructor Zainal 31, arrived at the hospital with his family members.
He said Zainal’s death was a great loss to the family, but they had accepted it as fated.
“Let the authorities do the necessary when the post-mortem report is out.
“He will be buried at the Muslim cemetery at Kampung Halo in Semporna” he said here today.
Zhao Bao Hua, the father of victim Zhao Zheng, said he and his wife had come all the way from Beijing, China, to identify the body, He said his son’s body would be cremated here and the ashes would be scattered into the sea off Semporna.
Last Friday, Zainal, and Chinese nationals Zhao Zheng and Xu Yingjie died while scuba diving in waters near Kalapuan Island, allegedly due to illegal fish bombing.
Sabah police have detained two people to assist in investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
