MH17: Malaysia to leave no stone unturned in pursuit for justice

KUALA LUMPUR: The government will continue to pursue the perpetrators responsible for the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 and seek justice for families of passengers and crew members killed in the tragedy.

The Transport Ministry, in a statement today, pledged that Malaysia would continue to work with the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), other grieving nations, as well as the international community in relaying updates to the next of kin in searching for accountability and justice.

The ministry said it would leave no stone unturned over its pursuit for justice over the heinous crime. Flight MH17 was flying 298 passengers and crew when it was shot down on July 17, 2014.

“Today marks the fifth year of the tragic incident involving Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 which was shot down near Hrabove, a village in the eastern part of Ukraine.

“Within the blink of an eye, 298 people including 43 Malaysians on board that fateful flight lost their lives, leaving their families and friends to continue grieving till today.

“Five years might have passed but our resolve for accountability and justice would not wane,” the ministry said.

Every family and the next of kin who are affected by this tragedy, the ministry said, deserves justice.

“We sincerely hope that this will bring some measure of comfort and solace to the families and the next-of-kin of those who were lost in this tragedy.

“We hope and pray so that the families and loved ones of those on board will be given strength to resume normal lives, or as normal a life as may be possible without their loved ones.

“We will remain resolute in our pursuit, and we will leave no stone unturned until justice is served.”
