Thomson Hospital Kota Damansara sacks psychiatrist accused of sexual harassment

Petaling Jaya: Thomson Hospital Kota Damansara has confirmed that it terminated the services of a consultant psychiatrist accused of sexually harassing a patient early last month.

In a statement, the hospital said it acted upon receiving a complaint made online about the incident.

“The consultant was suspended from duty on July 6 pending an internal inquiry.

“As a result of the inquiry, his service was terminated on July 15.

“We have also lodged a report to the police and the Malaysian Medical Council for further action.

“The hospital viewed the complaint seriously and took immediate action to ensure the safety of patients and hospital staff,” it added.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zani Che Din today confirmed that police had received a report on the incident.

“Further investigation on the case is being conducted under Section 509 of the Penal Code,” he added.

Earlier, social media users uploaded a status containing details of the sexual harassment incident.

Among the uploaded details is a screenshot of a vulgar message sent to the patient.
