IGP on sex clips investigation: No interference from anyone

KUALA LUMPUR: Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador today stressed that there has been no interference in the course of the police's investigation of several sex clips implicating Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

“Yes, I make it very clear that there is no interference from anyone, no specific pressure on me, nothing at all.

“We are very free to conduct our own investigations according to the standard operating procedure (SOP). No pressure at all,” he told reporters after a courtesy visit to the Malaysian Armed Forces headquarters, here, today.

Asked on the authenticity of the sex clips, Abdul Hamid said he would release a statement on this matter later today.

Police to date had arrested nine individuals to facilitate the ongoing investigation into the sex clips.

Six were arrested on Sunday including former Santubong PKR chief, Haziq Aziz, who had admitted that he was one of the men in the video and claimed that Mohamed Azmin was the other man.

All suspects were remanded till July 20 to assist in investigations.

Two days ago, Perak PKR chief and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s political secretary Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak was arrested along with two other individuals in Pasir Gudang, Johor.

On the allegation that Farhash Wafa was ill-treated during his remand, Abdul Hamid said the claim was baseless.
