Association offers reward for info on individual who chopped off dog's mouth

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Animal Association is offering a motorcycle as a reward for anyone who can give full information on the individual who chopped off a dog’s mouth.

Its president Arie Dwi Andika said it was learnt that the incident happened in Sabah. The association urged any NGOs in the state to handle the case until the culprit is arrested.

“We want the culprit to be caught, charged and sentenced according to Sabah’s animal welfare enactment.

“We here in the Peninsular cannot intervene as Sabah and Sarawak have their own enactment,” he said when contacted by Harian Metro.

He added that they were informed that the dog is now under the care of an animal association in Sabah.

“However, we learnt that the doctor who treated the dog advised for the dog to be put to sleep due to the severity of the injury.

“We were also informed that the dog was slashed after it wandered into a residential area, asking for food.

“We were also told that the culprit was drunk and he committed the act for fun,” he said, adding that he hoped the culprit would be brought to justice soon.

Therefore, the association is offering a gift of a Korean-made Daelim History S125 scooter worth RM9,500 to any individual or witness who can provide complete details of the case.

He said the police were still investigating the incident and those with information could contact him.

“The complainant's information will be kept confidential,” he said.
