Visitors to MyRumah showcase gain from talks by property experts

JOHOR BARU: Visitors to the 2019 MyRumah Property Showcase organised by The New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd at Komtar JBCC, here, took the opportunity to attend talks, apart from checking out the exhibition space on the second day of the event.

Private sector employee Muhammad Hakim Zainuddin, 27, who learned about the showcase on Facebook, came as early as 9am.

He said as someone who was planning to buy his first home, a good knowledge of property and a proper home purchase plan was crucial to avoid being duped by irresponsible parties.

"MyRumah offers an exciting range of talk sessions. I hope to be able to understand more about property and find a strategic location for my home.

"Through the sessions, I can plan ahead, as well as get what I need to know from 'trusted' developers," he said when met, here, today.

Meanwhile, development manager Zulkefli Md Noor, 45, said as a bumiputera, there were many benefits to gain through the types of housing schemes offered by the developers.

Zulkefli, who travelled from Muar expressed hope that the MyRumah programme would be held on a regular basis as residents in Johor were in desperate need of homes due to the many job opportunities available here.

"Many people like me want to own a home instead of renting one.

"We should make full use of the free talk sessions as there is a lot to be gained with regards to property and asset investments," he added.

The third series of the showcase, which is held in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) featured four lecture sessions from 10am to 10pm. Invited guest speakers talked on a range of interesting topics on buyer-related issues regarding homes.

They comprised MyCribBooking.com’s representative Akmal Nizam who spoke on Johor homestays readiness for Visit Malaysia Year 2020.

Founder of Pejuang Hartanah Ahyat Ishak meanwhile touched on the four "magic" questios first-time home buyers should ask before embarking on the journey of purchasing their homes.
