Bangladeshi who had 12 pet cats killed in brawl with Indonesian

PETALING JAYA: A Bangladeshi man was killed after he was believed to have been stabbed by an Indonesian man at a house along Jalan 1/19, here, last night.

It is learnt that the incident stemmed from the victim accidentally spraying the suspect with water from his cat's drinking bowl.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zani Che Din said a distress call came in from a woman at 9.10pm.

"Checks on the location found the victim unconscious covered in blood. He had several stab wounds in his back which is believed to have been the cause of death.

"Initial investigation found that the victim had 12 cats and during the incident, the Bangladesh national was giving them food and water before the suspect was accidentally sprayed with the cat's drinking water which then led to a fight," he said in a statement, here, today.

Blood spatter was found in front of a room believed to be from a fight that took place between the victim and the suspect.

"The forensics team took blood swabs, cigarette buds, knife holster, shirt and pants apart from finding three fingerprints at the location," he said adding that checks for the suspect's passport number would be made with the Indonesian embassy.

He said the house was a bungalow that had been converted into rooms for rent.

"There are four bedrooms and the lawn was not well taken cared of. The house is rented by several foreigners.

"Interviews conducted with the neighbour found that the owner of the bungalow is a woman who had passed away and no one knows who inherited the home.

"Those who rented rooms in the bungalow paid their rents to the suspect's mother known as Asniyah who has fled with her son," he said.

The victim's remains were sent to the University Malaya Medical Centre's (UMMC) Forensics Department for post-mortem.

"Efforts are being made to locate the suspect and his mother and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder," he said.
