IPOH: Six flights scheduled to depart from the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport (LTSAS) here were cancelled this morning due to low visibility from the haze.
In a statement today, LTSAS manager Mohd Ali Osman said that the cancellations had affected 747 passengers.
“Visibility was down to 2,000 metres as of 7am this morning,” he added.
The cancelled flights included AirAsia’s Johor Baru-Ipoh-Singapore and Singapore-Ipoh-Johor Bahru route, as well as Singapore low-cost airline FlyScoot’s Singapore-Ipoh-Singapore route.
As of 8am, five areas in Perak recorded “unhealthy” air quality readings according to the Department of Environment’s Air Pollutant Index (API).
Taiping’s air quality was registered at 111, Tasek Ipoh was at 164, Pegoh Ipoh (145), Seri Manjung (132) and Tanjung Malim (134).
An API reading of 0 to 50 is categorised as good; 51 to 100 (moderate); 101 to 200 (unhealthy); 201 to 300 (very unhealthy); and 300 and above (hazardous).
