PLUS helps promote Rukun Negara values through art

PETALING JAYA: PLUS Malaysia Bhd (PLUS) recently held judging session to select winners for its Rukun Negara Sketch Competition launched on Malaysia Day this year.

25 out of 1,000 sketches were shortlisted by the judges who convened at the Sungai Buloh Overhead Bridge Restaurant along the North South Expressway (NSE).

The judges comprised of Malaysian Highway Authority Director of Human Resources and Corporate, Noradibah Ramli, National Archives of Malaysia Head of Exhibition Section and Educational Archive, Mohd Nasser Malik, National Visual Arts Gallery Chief Senior Curator, Mohamad Majidi Amir and PLUS Head of Creative Communications, Najihah Mohd Yasin together with VMLY&R Art Director, Melody Lee Sook Yin.

Mohamad Majidi said this was among the initiatives to instill the spirit of patriotism and national harmony among the younger generation.

Mohd Nasser applauded the competition, saying it was one of the most attractive efforts in opening doors for primary schoolchildren to convey their message to society and the country.

"Students will be able to showcase their talents in creating creativity through the Rukun Negara," Mohd Nasser said in a press statement by PLUS today.

The judging constitutes 60 per cent of the score with the remainder to be derived from public votes via PLUS' official Facebook page.

Voting will conclude on Oct 14 and the results will be announced on Oct 16 at a ceremony to be held at the Sungai Buloh Overhead Bridge Restaurant.
