Ahmad Maslan denies receiving 1MDB money

KUALA LUMPUR: Former deputy finance minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan has denied receiving money linked to strategic development company, 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MBD).

He said police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), had questioned him over allegation that he had accepted a cheque from the company.

“The authorities showed me a copy of a cheque with a certain amount of cash which I have never received.

“I have signed documents to them stating that I have never accepted those sum of money,” he told reporter at the Parliament lobby here, today.

The Pontian Member of Parliament said he would seek legal advise from lawyers on how to proceed with the matter.

Ahmad was among 80 individuals and entities named by the MACC for allegedly receiving money from 1MDB.

Also in the list are CIMB Group Holdings Bhd former chairman Datuk Seri Nazir Razak – the brother of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak – and former Federal Land Development Authority chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad.

MACC chief commissioner Latheefa Koya told reporters in Putrajaya today that the agency was aiming to recover RM420 million from these individuals and entities who had allegedly received funds laundered through accounts linked to Najib.

The MACC is expected to open investigation papers on the individuals and entities named.
