Eco World donates computers, equipment worth RM18,000

KUALA LUMPUR: Special needs students from SK Taman Kepong were given computers and classroom equipment worth RM18,000 by ECO World Foundation.

This is to help them with their lessons.

At the handover ceremony at SK Taman Kepong recently, Eco World Foundation chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said the foundation believed education was key to helping special needs students become independent individuals.

“The donation of furniture and equipment is important to create a more conducive learning environment for the students,” he said.

Lee said the vibrant colours of the furniture would stimulate the children’s brains. The new desks, chairs and computers were delivered to the school last month.

SK Taman Kepong’s PPKI class currently accommodates 42 special needs students.

Present at the ceremony were Eco World Foundation trustees Tan Sri Mohd Radzi Sheikh Ahmad and Philip Mathews, its chief executive officer Captain (Rtd) Datuk Liew Siong Sing and SK Taman Kepong headmaster Halimi Md Rasip.

Since its inception, the foundation has spent about RM845,000 replacing school furniture such as canteen tables, benches and other facilities.

The foundation’s main programme, the Eco World Students Aid Programme, provides financial aid to underprivileged primary and secondary students with the objective of keeping children of all races in school.

Currently, the foundation is helping 3,000 primary and secondary school students from Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Pahang, Johor and Sabah.
