ALOR STAR: A motorcyclist was killed and his 7-year-old son injured when they were struck by lightning at Jalan Ban Mada, Kampung Hujung Alor, near here, on Friday.
The duo was on their way home after performing the Friday prayer at the Rafeah Taman Uda Mosque, near here, when the incident occurred at about 2.30pm.
The deceased has been identified as farmer Norhafizan Mohd Soleh, 39.
His son, whose name has not been revealed, suffered six per cent burns to his body.
It is learnt that the duo was discovered by members of the public, who alerted the police to the incident.
“The body was sent to the Forensics Unit of the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for a post-mortem.
“The boy is being treated in the Red Zone of the same hospital. He is reportedly in stable condition,” Kota Star police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rozi Jidin said in a statement.
