Kedah teacher found dead, robbery suspected

SIK: A teacher was found dead in her house in Kampung Banggol, Jeneri, near here, yesterday.

The 46-year-old victim, Fauziah Yop, 46, was believed to have been killed during a home invasion or robbery.

Her 14-year-old daughter and husband, stumbled on her body in the bedroom when they returned home from school about 1.30pm.

Trader, Muhd Shukri Zakaria, 24, who was at a nearby sundry shop, said villagers rushed to the house when told of the incident.

“As we entered the house, we saw it was in shamble with some of the drawers being opened. When we went to the room, we saw the victim's husband in tears while holding his wife's body close.

“The bedroom also appeared to have been ransacked," he said when met at the scene.

Muhd Shukri said villagers then helped placed the victim properly on the bed before calling the police.

He said at the time of the incident, he did not hear any scream coming from the house.

“Villagers did saw the victim's husband leaving the house at 12.30pm to pick up their daughter from school." he said.

When met, the victim's husband declined to be interviewed, saying that he was too distraught by the incident.

"I don't want to say anything, I can't bear reading the news of my wife's death." he said.

It was learnt that a report has been lodged at the Sik police station at 6.30pm.

Sik police chief Deputy Superintendent Abdul Razak Osman when contacted confirmed the incident.
