KUALA LUMPUR: Findings of investigation into the Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA) fire at its Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in October 2016 would be revealed next week, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said he would announce the details on the incident in a press conference.
“The Cabinet has decided to be transparent on the findings and we are in the midst of declassifying the document so that it can be made public.
“What we want is transparency, including the weaknesses of the hospital or others (agencies), which will be revealed next week,” he said in his winding up speech on the 2020 Budget.
It was reported that a burnt capacitor in one of the ceiling lights had been identified as one of the causes of the fire at the Johor Baru hospital.
The 9am incident on Oct 25, 2016 killed six patients and forced hundred others to be evacuated.
Following the incident, a safety audit report was carried out on 46 old hospital buildings nationwide.
