IGP not exempted from IPCMC investigation, says Hanipa

KUALA LUMPUR: The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) is not excluded from investigation under the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC).

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of law Hanipa Maidin said any complaint received by the IPCMC against the IGP would be investigated under Section 24 of the IPCMC Bill.

“After the IPCMC wraps up its probe and if any wrongdoings are found, then disciplinary action would be taken.

“This will be done by a Special Disciplinary Board formed by the chief secretary to the government,” he said in a parliamentary written reply today.

Hanipa was responding to a question from (PH-Bukit Gelugor) Ramkarpal Singh on whether the IGP would be exempted from IPCMC investigation as stipulated in the Bill.
