Dr Mahathir suffers nose bleed during aborted press conference

KUALA LUMPUR: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad suffered a nose bleed during a media event here, today - but is reportedly in good health.

The Prime Minister was forced to prematurely end a press conference he was giving due to the situation, but was able to resume his duties shortly after, Bernama reported.

According to a news organisation, the incident occurred while Dr Mahathir was speaking to the media after launching the Malaysian Palm Oil Board International Palm Oil Congress and Exhibition at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre at KLCC, here.

He was forced to end the press conference abruptly, but returned to the Convention Centre to inspect a biodiesel car shortly after, an aide said.

“He is okay, because after the (press conference), Tun went to inspect a biodiesel car,” he said.

The aide, as well as the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), also rubbished rumours that Dr Mahathir had been rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

“He resumed his normal duties,” said the PMO.
