SHAH ALAM: Only 19 people – out of 958 nominees – will receive awards and titles in conjunction with the 74th birthday celebrations of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, on Wednesday.

In a statement today, Selangor State Secretary Datuk Mohd Amin Ahmad Ahya said that of the 19 recipients, only one will be bestowed the Darjah Kebesaran Seri Paduka Mahkota Selangor (SPMS), which carries the title ‘Datuk Seri’.

There will also be a single recipient of the Darjah Kebesaran Datuk Setia-Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (SSIS), which carries the title ‘Datuk Setia’.

Nine people will be awarded the Darjah Kebesaran Datuk Paduka Mahkota Selangor (DPMS) award, which carries the title ‘Datuk’; while eight will receive the Darjah Kebesaran Datuk-Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (DSIS), which also carries the title ‘Datuk’.

Mohd Amin said that all the recipients were cleared by security checks conducted by the police, the Insolvency Department and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

He added that the state government received 2,268 applications for awards and titles this year.
