Queen views Islamic exhibition at British Museum

LONDON: The Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah visited the first national public museum in the world – the British Museum – on Saturday.

Her Majesty spent two hours perusing the establishment, including surveying the “Inspired by the East: How the Islamic World Influenced Western Art” exhibition co-organised with the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia.

The exhibition, which runs until Jan 26, features ceramics, photographs, jewellery, clothing and paintings from Europe, North America, the Middle East and North Africa.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Tunku Azizah are in the United Kingdom on a special visit until Dec 16.

The trip is Al-Sultan Abdullah’s fourth after the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Japan in June, July and October, respectively, after being sworn in as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong in January. – BERNAMA
