'Klang Valley water supply fully restored in 3 days'

KUALA LUMPUR: Taps may continue to run dry during Christmas in areas affected by water supply disruption in the Klang Valley. Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd today said water supply would only be fully restored in three days.

Since these unscheduled water supply disruptions occur on a large scale, Air Selangor said the recovery period for customers will vary from one area to another, depending on the geographical location and altitude.

“The process of increasing the balance pool level and channelling it to the distribution system as well as the service pools in the affected areas are currently underway before water supplies can be provided for the recovery process in stages.

“Consumers in the vicinity of the distribution system will receive water supply starting midnight tonight.

“Air Selangor expects water supply to be fully restored in Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang and parts of Putrajaya within three days 72 hours,” it said in a statement today.

In another development, Air Selangor said the Bukit Tampoi water treatment plant will continue to be closed until further notice as the odour is still present.

It added that while the water supply was being restored, emergency relief via water tankers would continue to be mobilised to affected areas.

“Eleven local service centres will continue to operate 24 hours, including additional public taps in four locations, bringing the total to 18.

“We will also distribute five-litre bottled water to those affected,” the statement read.

Affected residents are advised to get the latest information on the water disruption via Air Selangor’s mobile phone application, website (www.airselangor.com.my), Facebook page (Air Selangor), or Twitter account (@airselangor).
