137 teachers down with food poisoning at Cheras training centre

KUALA LUMPUR: Up to 137 kindergarten teachers attending a two-day course at a training centre in Cheras came down with food poisoning, early today.

Four of the teachers were rushed to the emergency unit of the Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital (HCTM) after presenting with stomach pain, vomiting and diarrhoea.

The others are believed to have been ferried to the hospital in stages.

It is thought that the teachers were sickened by food served for dinner at the training centre’s dining hall last night, said Kuala Lumpur Pusat Asuhan Tunas Islam (Pasti) deputy director Hafizudin Muhamed Nor.

They began showing symptoms of food poisoning at about 3am today.

Hafizuin added that all the teachers are in stable condition at the HCTM.
