2 Malaysian students injured in South Africa robbery discharged

PUTRAJAYA: Two out of four Malaysian students injured during a robbery in Newcastle Durban, South Africa last Friday (Jan 3) have been discharged from the hospital.

The Foreign Ministry said the other two students were still being treated for their injuries at the King Edward Hospital.

"Officers from the Malaysian High Commission in Pretoria have visited the students. The commission will keep monitoring them to ensure their safety and that their welfare are being looked after," the ministry said in a statement.

It added the students families and the university where they study had been informed regarding the incident.

The students, aged between 19 and 27, sustained injuries in the robbery in which one of them was shot in the leg and the others were stabbed.
