ALOR SETAR: While the move towards cashless transactions has commenced in government departments in Kedah, the public can still pay with cash at least until in the middle of the year.
At the immigration office in Anak Bukit for example, those without debit cards or other online methods of payment will be guided to its nearby branch in Alor Setar town.
“There will be an extended period until the middle of this year for those who are still using cash at the immigration department,” said a counter officer at the immigration department here.
“While the majority of people has no problems with paying using the debit cards, we still accept cash until the middle of the year.”
He said the elderlies, for instance, might not have set up online facilities earlier as they were not informed of the medium of the cashless transaction.
