MACC names new deputy commissioner in charge of management, professionalism

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) Agency Integrity Management Division and Public Sector Governance Division director, Datuk Junipah Wandi, has been appointed the new deputy commissioner in charge of management and professionalism, effective Jan 20.

The 51-year-old, who has a Master’s degree in Social Science in Urban Anthropology from Universiti Malaya, will take over the post from Datuk Ja'afar Mahad, who retires on the same day.

Earlier, while bidding his farewell, Ja’afar said that he hopes states which have yet to provide housing for MACC staff would do so soon.

"I hope the new deputy commissioner (of management and professionalism) will proceed with efforts to secure allocations to build living quarters in Sabah, Kedah, Perlis and Labuan. So far, we already have 14 of our own complexes, which is something we can be proud of.

"Also, I hope my successor will continue with the transformation 2.0 plan that is currently underway," he said.

The outgoing deputy commissioner later read a poem by Professor Dr Hamka, entitled "Terlena (Dozing off)". The poem touched him deeply and Ja’afar had to pause three-quarters of the way through to regain his composure.

At 4.30pm, he clocked out to mark the end of his service with the MACC after more than 30 years.
