Bukit Kwong dam normal, says Kelantan DID

KOTA BARU:The Kelantan Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) will continue monitoring the water level at Bukit Kwong dam in Rantau Panjang to ensure there's enough water to irrigate the farmland.

At Press time, checks showed the water level there to be normal, at 16.84m.

The department's spokesman said more than 100 farmers depend on the dam for irrigation.

"So far, the water level is good. Our officers will continue to monitor the situation closely and take the reading every one hour.

"Therefore, farmers need not worry over shortage of water,"

The spokesman said water will be released to help farmers in Rantau Panjang district and its surrounding areas expecting to harvest their crop this April.

Bukit Kwong dam is the only dam handled by the state DID. The normal level for the dam is 16.76m and the critical level is 12.30m.
