Plans to revive Seremban-PD rail line being studied, says Loke

PORT DICKSON: The Transport Ministry is currently conducting a study to revive the railway line from Seremban to Port Dickson.

Its Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the study included looking at the feasibility of the railway project, as part of the tracks, which had long been left abandoned and could no longer be used.

“I do not wish to announce anything further as it is still being studied,” he told reporters after launching the Negri Sembilan-state level road safety campaign in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration here, yesterday.

On the 18 per cent toll reduction along the North-South Expressway, Loke said it would also benefit the residents of Lukut and Port Dickson.

“The government will continue to take measures to reduce the cost of living, and one of the steps we have taken is to reduce the toll rate, and I hope it will help the people,” he said.

In the meantime, Loke advised people to travel by air, train or bus during the festive season to avoid traffic jams.

Loke also urged road users to report directly to the Road Transport Department if they found anyone using the emergency lane irresponsibly.

“Anyone with such information can take a picture and send it to RTD,“ he said. — Bernama
