TAWAU: A man was badly injured after he fell from the fifth floor of a shopping mall at Jalan Kuhara here, today.
In the 12.10pm incident, passers-by said the man landed on the roof of a Proton Saga. A woman, in her 30s, who was in the car sustained minor injury.
A witness Suriayati Ibrahim, 28, said the victim was often spotted wandering at the shopping mall and talking to himself.
“At first, I thought there was a (road) accident after hearing a loud thud. Then, I saw people started to crowd near the car after the man landed on the vehicle.
“At the time, the victim appeared to be conscious and in pain. Members of the public contacted the police and an ambulance arrived later to take him to the hospital,” she said.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Peter Umbuas confirmed the case.
