Gombak facing unscheduled water cut; water supply to resume this evening

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 57 areas in Gombak are facing unscheduled water cuts following a burst pipe at the Hulu Kelang Pump House.

The 5.15am incident caused the water level to be reduced to 0.72 metres from the usual water level of four metres at the Madonna water tank.

“Air Selangor is in the midst of repairing the burst pipe and expect it to be completed by 6.30pm today,” it said in a statement.

Following the incident, 57 areas in Gombak will face temporary unscheduled water cuts until this evening.

The affected areas are AEON big ampang; Kg/Tmn Tasek Tambahan; Tmn Permai Jaya Ampang; Ampang Waterfront; Kuala Ampang; Tmn Perwira Ampang; Aparment Mesra Villa; Prima Tinjani Ukay Tmn Pinggiran Ukay; Apartement Mesra Ri;a Tmn Ampang Indah; Tmn Rasmi Jaya; and, Apartment Mesra Villa.

The other affected areas are Tmn Ampang Jaya; Tmn Sering Ukay; Bandar Baru Ampang; Tmn Ampang Utama; Tmn Sri Ampang; Bukit Madona Hulu Kelang; Tmn Beverly Height; Tmn Sri Baru Ampang; Hill Side Estate; Tmn Bukit Ampang; Tmn Sri Bayu Ampang; Hotel Flamingo; Tmn Bukit Indah; and Tmn Sri Merdeka.

Others are Kg Ampang Campuran; Tmn Bukit Jubina; Tmn Sri Ukay;;Kg Ampang Indah; Tmn Bukit Mulia; Tmn Tar; Kg Baru Ampang; Tmn Dagang Permai; Tmn TTDI Jaya Bukit Indah Ampang; Kg Dato Mufti; Tmn DAR; Tmn Uda Jaya; Kg Indah Permai; Tmn Fairuza Ampang; Tmn Ukay Height; Kg Melayu Ampang; Tmn Grandview Ampang; Tmn Ukay Seraya; Kg Muhibah Ampang; Tmn Halaman Kesuma; Tmn Ukay Tropika; Kg Pasir Tmn Hill View; Tmn Villa Sri Ukay; Kg Sg Sering; Tmn Kelab Ukay; Tmn Watan; Kg Tasik Permai; and Tmn Kosas Ukay Bestari

Water supply will be resumed to consumers once the Madonna water tank reaches its normal water level and recovery of water supply will take place in stages based on the altitude of the respective housing areas.

Before this morning’s incident, two other pipe burst incidents had taken place in Ampang on Feb 5 in Taman Ukay heights and at the Taman Ampang Utama pipe alignment.

“However, the repair works on the two incidents had been completed on the same day. The incident this morning however had a more lasting impact on consumer in these areas.

“Air Selangor had activated its emergency response plan by intensifying assistance to affected customers following the incident through tankers, with priority given to critical/emergency users and premises, including hospital.”

It said to avoid delay in receiving water supply, which is provided through 25 water tank trucks and two jumbo tank trucks, users were urged to obtain their water supply at the local centralised service centre which is located at AEON Big Ampang, Taman Dagang Permai, 68000 Ampang (GPS coordinates: 3.141065, 101.779456) which had been opened since 9.30am.
