KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry has received 2.5 million doses of the monovalent type 2 oral polio vaccine (mOPV2) from the World Health Organisation (WHO) for the purpose of inoculating 1 million children under the age of 13 in Sabah.
The news was revealed by Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement, today.
The vaccines, reserved to respond to a recent outbreak of a type 2 polio virus strain in the state, are drawn from stockpiles of the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (Unicef).
