KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) in a statement today says the 1,000 housemen to be roped in by the Health Ministry in the fight against Covid-19 will serve as additional hands and not frontliners.
Commenting on news reports about the deployment of 1,000 housemen set to happen next week, MMA president Dr N Ganabaskaran said these house officers would assist in the wards.
"The 1,000 house officers are also from our public healthcare’s ongoing intakes, most recently for April 2020.
"MMA feels this will be important to clarify as many house officers were under the impression that they will be placed on the front lines," he said.
