Sunway Pyramid says viral videos not due to Covid-19

KUALA LUMPUR: Sunway Pyramid has denied videos being circulated on the social media about three people fainting in its premises were linked to Covid-19.

The shopping mall in a Facebook post clarified that all three cases were not linked to the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak in the country.

“In regards to a recent video circulating on social media about the fainting of a GrabFood rider in the vicinity of Sunway Pyramid, we would like to clarify that the rider has been sent to a nearby hospital for medical treatment after immediate action by our security personnel.

“As for a separate case regarding the alleged fainting of a shopper in the mall, our customer care personnel found the shopper to be in good health, able to carry about her activities and has since headed home.

“Finally, the video about a woman fainting near our food and beverage establishment did not occur in Sunway Pyramid,” the statement read.

In the same post, the mall also urged all quarters to refrain from sharing unverified posts via the social media which could lead to unnecessary fear-mongering and speculation.

“Your cooperation and understanding is greatly appreciated.”

Yesterday, Malaysia recorded 117 new Covid-19 cases today, raising the tally of infections in the country to 790.

The country in currently on its second day of the Movement Control Order until March 31.
