KTMB reduces train services

KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has reduced several of its train services from Saturday until the end of the Movement Control Order (MCO) on March 31.

Its Chief Executive Officer Datuk Kamarulzaman Zainal said the temporary reduction involved its electric train service (ETS), KTM Intercity, KTM Komuter and the Skypark Link.

He said the ETS would only operate eight services daily compared to the current 40 services; the Intercity would be reduced to 10 daily services compared to 18; and the KTM Komuter reduced to 164 services compared to the 208 daily services now.

“The Komuter services during the weekend will be reduced to 138 services compared to 167 now,

“For the Tebrau Shuttle train services between Johor Baru Sentral in Johor Baru and Woodlands Station in Singapore, the services would be reduced to 8 compared to 31 previously,” he said in a statement here today.

The Skypark Link train services linking KL Sentral Station with the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang which currently has 32 daily services to eight.

Kamarulzaman said the reduction was made to optimise train operations in line with current government directives throughout the MCO to reduce cross-state movements.

He added that the operation of all these trains would be reviewed from time to time, depending on the government's latest requirements and directives.

Meanwhile, Kamarulzaman said passengers could also make travel date changes or cancel tickets at KTM station counters or through the www.ktmb.com.my website.

Members of the public are also urged to seek information on the operation of the train services through the website or contact KTMB Call Centre at 03-22671200.
