Perlis doctor becomes Malaysia's 9th Covid-19 fatality

KUALA LUMPUR: A medical doctor with the Health Ministry died from Covid-19 in Kangar, Perlis, today.

He became the ninth fatality of the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

The 48-year-old known as ‘Case 890’ had recently travelled to Turkey, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

“He was admitted to the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital in Kangar on March 17 suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection.

“He tested positive for Covid-19 on March 18 and was placed on ventilator support after his condition deteriorated.

“He was pronounced dead at 10.33am (today),” Dr Noor Hisham said in a post on his Facebook page, today.

He added that the case is believed to be linked to overseas travel history, and not other frontliners dealing with Covid-19 patients.

“All at the Health Ministry would like to express condolences to the family of the deceased,” he said.
