Pahang exco, DAP reps take salary cut for Covid-19 fund

KUANTAN: All Pahang executive council members will take a 10 per cent salary cut for three months to contribute to the Pahang Covid-19 Fund.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, who had earlier chaired the weekly exco meeting, said the members have agreed to contribute 10 per cent of their wages between April and June to the fund setup by the state government.

"The exco members have agreed to the salary cut and the decision was taken as they sympathised with the plight of the people affected by Covid-19 outbreak regardless of their race, age and backgrounds.

"We hope the pay cut and contribution to the Pahang Covid-19 fund will spur more quarters to come forward to contribute to the fund," he said in a statement today.

The Pahang state government has 11 executive council members including Wan Rosdy.

Meanwhile, seven Pahang DAP assemblymen have also agreed to contribute to the fund to help cushion the hardship faced by the people across the state.

Pahang DAP secretary Lee Chin Chen said the elected representatives will donate 10 per cent of their monthly wages between April and June.
