Rental waiver for R&R stall operators during MCO

KUALA LUMPUR: A rental waiver has been granted to stall operators at Rest and Recreation areas (R&R) on highways nationwide to help ease their burden until the Movement Control Order (MCO) ends.

Senior Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said while the highways remained open, the income of stall operators were affected during the Movement Control Order (MCO).

“This is good news to the stall operators at R&R. Even though there are not many vehicles plying the highways, they still need to pay for rents (for their kiosks).

“The management of highway concessionaires - Plus, Anih (previously MTD Prime), Latar, MEX, Prolintas, Kesas, Grand Saga and Grand Sepadu - have agreed that the operators would be exempted from paying rents for their kiosks at the R&R for six months,” he said in a live telecast today.

However, he later clarified that the rental waiver is not for six months, but during the MCO period.
