KL's Masjid India district placed under EMCO

KUALA LUMPUR: Tourist area Masjid India and its vicinity became the fifth location to be placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said it involved Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Jalan Dang Wangi, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Tun Perak, Jalan Melaka and Jalan Ampang around Masjid India.

“The government, following advice by the Health Ministry, has decided to put in place EMCO to take effect from April 14 until April 28.

“The SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) is the same as the earlier EMCO enforced in the other four locations,” he said in a live telecast today.

The iconic area is usually bustling with business activities and is a famous shopping spot for Malaysians during festive seasons.

Other residential areas and housing estates placed under EMCO included Menara City One in Jalan Mushi Abdullah, Sungai Lui, Hulu Langat, Selangor, as well as Kampung Dato’ Ibrahim Majid and Bandar Baharu Dato’ Ibrahim Majid in Simpang Renggam, Kluang, Johor.
