KOTA KINABALU: The KPJ Sabah Specialist Hospital is lit in blue at night as a gesture of appreciation to all essential workers who have sacrificed so much during the Covid-19 pandemic.
In conjunction with Labour Day, the hospital in Luyang here started illuminating its building in blue last night and will continue till May 3.
Its chief executive officer Miranda Harumal said they have witnessed the relentless dedication shown by frontliners in this challenging period since the movement control order (MCO) was announced on March 18.
"Our frontliners are the heart of everything and they are our nation's knights in shining armour. It goes well beyond this small gesture from us. Our building will be lit up in blue every night until May 3.
"(It shows) our appreciation to all our colleagues and friends in public hospitals throughout Sabah, especially to our neighbours namely Queen Elizabeth Hospital I and II, and the Likas Women and Children's Hospital," she said.
She noted the management continues to recognise the tireless efforts and commitment of their staff on duty during Labour Day and KPJ Sabah remained operational during the MCO.
As of yesterday, Sabah Covid-19 cases remained at 315 with two health personnel confirmed infected with coronavirus on Wednesday.
The districts with the highest Covid-19 cases are Tawau (81), Lahad Datu (43), and Kota Kinabalu (49 cases).
Other districts are Tuaran (22), Kinabatangan (22), Sandakan (21), Keningau (16), Penampang (12), Beaufort (11), Putatan (8), Kunak (8), Kota Belud (5), Papar (4), Sipitang (4), Tambunan (3), Ranau (3), Semporna (2), and Beluran (1).
