SOP for education sector

KUALA LUMPUR: Staff working full-time and exam bound students to attend schools are among standard operating procedures (SOP) listed by the National Security Council (NSC) on the education sector.

The infographic, shared on the NSC Facebook page, said school sessions will only apply to exam bound classes such as SPM, SVM, STPM and STAM, when schools reopen.

For preschool, primary, secondary and post-secondary, school session will include home-based learning and online co-academic competition and co-curricular activities.

Schools will operate from 7 am until 4pm with 100 per cent staff working. Students (Form 5 and Form 6) will be attending school session from 7am until 2pm.

The sessions will need to adhere to social distancing with students being one metre apart in classes, canteen and school co-op.

Under protocol and activities, schools must prepare hand sanitisers and areas dedicated for hand washing, with soap.

Schools must also screen and record body temperature for teachers, students and school staff including contract workers, visitors and clients at the school gate or the assembly area.

Schools must arrange desks with one-metre distance. Cleaning and sanitisation operation and cleaning workers under contract must adhere to the Health Ministry's guidelines.

The NSC infographic also refers to the Education Ministry's management and staff.

It said the operation hours will be from 7am to 6pm and staff are required to work at full capacity at the office and service counters at district offices, state departments and ministry.

Any meeting of more than 10 people must be held online as well as training, work courses and briefings for officers and teachers.

Under the activities and protocol, everyone must adhere to social distancing of one metre at meeting rooms, service counters and lifts.

The offices should provide hand sanitisers or dedicated hand washing areas.

Staff should also screen and record body temperature at the entrance and to ensure cleaning workers under contract adhere to the Health Ministry's guidelines.

Earlier, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in a special televised address said schools, colleges and higher learning institutions will remain closed under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), which will take effect on Monday (April 4).
