Hulu Langat regains red zone status with 10 new Covid-19 cases

SHAH ALAM: The Hulu Langat district has been re-categorised as a Covid-19 red zone following the emergence of 10 new cases of the coronavirus.

The district recorded 45 active cases as of noon today, according to information from the Selangor Covid-19 Prevention Task Force, which was shared on Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari's website.

A district is categorised as a red zone when there are more than 40 active Covid-19 cases.

Hulu Langat was removed from the list of red zones in the country on May 7, and was a yellow zone until yesterday.

"After three days of Selangor being free of red zones, Hulu Langat has become the first district to return to the red zone today.

"Selangor residents are strictly warned against interstate travel to balik kampung for Hari Raya. If there are new cases or Hari Raya clusters, we would have to be under a strict lockdown as enforced in the beginning.

"Your actions will affect the country's economy and cause more people to suffer," Amirudin wrote.

Selangor also recorded a high number of active cases today with 20 new infections compared to eight yesterday.

The seven districts still in the yellow zone are Petaling (25), Gombak (20), Kuala Selangor (8), Hulu Selangor (8), Klang (5), Sepang (5) and Sabak Bernam (3), while Kuala Langat remains in the green zone.

Selangor currently has 1,693 positive Covid-19 cases; with 1,499 cases having recovered; 119 cases still active, and 22 deaths.
