31 overseas arrivals test positive for Covid-19

PUTRAJAYA: 5,730 people arrived in the country between June 10 and yesterday (June 25), said Senior Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said of the total, 5,699 tested negative for Covid-19 and were ordered to undergo mandatory home quarantine, while 31 others were found positive for the virus and were sent to hospitals for treatment.

"300 Malaysians returned to the country and arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport on June 25 (yesterday).

"Of the total, 297 were ordered to undergo mandatory home quarantine, while three others were sent to the hospital," he told a press conference today.

He said these Malaysians had returned from various countries namely China, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, South Africa, Japan, the Netherlands and South Korea.

Meanwhile, 159 entered the country through Johor and were ordered to undergo home quarantine.

Malaysians who returned from abroad are required to remain at home and adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP) while undergoing the 14-day self-quarantine or face legal action under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).

Those undergoing home quarantine are also required to download the MySejahtera app (aimed at monitoring the Covid-19 outbreak) and wear a wristband provided by the Health Ministry.

Ismail Sabri also reminded all to continue practising self-discipline and preventive measures against Covid-19 to remain safe.
